There are days when music feels like a change of scenery. I pressed play on “Intertwined” and, within seconds, I wasn’t looking at a computer screen anymore. Between the sound of the waves and those first guitar notes, my head had already wandered somewhere much healthier—feet in the sand, salt in the air, and not a single notification demanding my attention.
That opening never overplays its hand. It simply creates a place you want to stay in. The relaxed pulse feels refreshing without becoming lazy, and every new layer slips into the mix with the same natural ease as the tide reaching the shore. Psychedelic music often relies on atmosphere, but Mind Tides understand that atmosphere only works when the groove underneath is alive. Here, it absolutely is.
I also loved how rhythm quietly dictates the direction of the song. The percussion carries a subtle Latin flavour, the guitars shimmer without trying to steal the spotlight, and the changing pace follows the movement of water rather than the predictable structure of a pop song. Nothing feels rigid. The music expands, pulls back, breathes, then carries you somewhere slightly different before you’ve even noticed you’ve left the previous section behind.
Ali Jakupovic’s voice was probably my favourite surprise. There’s something disarmingly gentle about his timbre that fits this landscape beautifully. It doesn’t compete with the instrumentation; it floats through it, adding another colour instead of demanding attention. When the arrangement briefly opens its doors to animal calls and more contemplative textures, the song doesn’t become darker—it becomes wider. That contrast gives “Intertwined” an emotional depth that lingers long after the final note, quietly reminding us that every living thing shares the same home. Beautifully arranged, full of soul, and impossible to rush, this is exactly the kind of track I enjoy discovering for Where the Music Meets.
