HUMAN NATURES Weave Light and Longing in “Strings”

“Strings” is a lush dream-rock reflection on time, connection, and the quiet urgency of being alive.

Strings” hits like one of those quiet notes that somehow fills an entire room. Maybe it’s the sense of calm urgency that runs through it, or maybe it’s João Ribeiro’s voice — warm, grounded, and almost comforting in its gentleness. As a Portuguese musician and composer myself, I rarely stumble upon something that makes me feel both rooted and adrift, but this one hit me straight in that delicate middle.

Strings” closes the curtain before HUMAN NATURES unveil their long-awaited debut album, “ELECTRIC DREAMS”, and it does so with elegance and weight. Built on delicate layers of electric guitars and airy synths, the song unfolds like a slow sunrise — chill yet alive, hypnotic but never looping on itself. There’s movement here; a quiet push to keep searching even when you’re lost. The chorus opens like a soft tide, welcoming you back just when you think you’ve drifted too far.

The poem ties time, memory and human connection into something tactile. “The fragile threads that connect us” are, sometimes, almost palpable— weaving, fraying, glowing in the light. That image comes alive in the music video too, filmed atop Pico Mountain in the Azores, where João Ribeiro captures the first burst of sunlight over the Atlantic. The timelapse feels symbolic — from darkness to radiance, from silence to sound.

About HUMAN NATURES:

HUMAN NATURES themselves are a living collaboration — born from Ribeiro’s decade-long collection of ideas, now shaped by a circle of friends from bands like Eigreen, Líquen, LVI and MaZela. Together, they’ve built a sonic space where dream-rock, ambient, and indie pop coexist without stepping on each other’s toes. The upcoming “ELECTRIC DREAMS” gathers 15 years of work and heart, featuring the Almedina Ensemble and Coimbrass Band, and honestly, “Strings” makes it feel like the perfect prelude to a record that’s been a lifetime in the making.
