Filiah’s “On & On” Is the Kind of Vulnerability You Can Dance To

Shimmering folk-pop groove hiding tender truths beneath every line.

There’s something sneakily powerful about how Filiah delivers this one. “On & On” has the bones of indie-folk, but there’s this shimmering outer layer — a confident, glittery pop-rock sheen that feels like it could soundtrack the kind of dance party you throw for yourself after deleting a bad text draft. The chorus lodges itself in your head (not in a viral TikTok way, but in a you find yourself humming it while washing dishes kind of way), and her voice — all soft edges and steady clarity — carries both warmth and weight.

Lyrically, it’s all about pulling shame out into the light. There’s this line — “I’m so scared to disappear, but the further I go the safer I feel” — that’s been rattling around my head since the first listen. It’s simple, but it lands like a quiet truth you didn’t realise you needed to hear. The track is upbeat, almost deceptively so, and that contrast between the sunny groove and the lyrical heaviness makes it stick. It feels like a pep talk disguised as a pop song.

Filiah has said “On & On” was born out of confronting the sneaky little ways shame shapes us — and it really shows. Co-written during a songwriting camp with Phil and Fredi, it’s as tight as it is emotional. It hits that boygenius-meets-Maggie-Rogers sweet spot: thoughtful, grounded, but still bright enough to make your day better. You can walk down the street with this in your headphones and feel like the main character, even if you’re just going to the post office.

About Filiah:

If you’re not familiar with Filiah yet, this is a good time to get acquainted. The Austrian singer-songwriter grew up car-singing along to Fleetwood Mac and Bowie with her mum — an early training ground that clearly left its mark. Her roots are in folk, but she’s never afraid to let some pop sparkle shine through. After spending years quietly crafting her sound, she signed to Ink Music (home to Leyya and My Ugly Clementine) and kicked off 2024 with the lush “Atlas”. Now, with “On & On”, she’s finding her stride — playful, poetic, and fiercely real.
