ELECTROMENTAL – PART 35

Since the beginning of this magazine that we have been receiving great electronic tracks. For some reason, we didn’t post about those submissions because we felt they should be integrated into a specific mood. We are now building that mood with a monthly post focusing on the best of indietronica. This is electromental – part 35.

Genevieve Sovereign – Starspin

“Starspin” by Genevieve Sovereign emerges as a mesmerizing blend of ambient house and IDM, delivering an optimal atmosphere right from the start. The track masterfully builds an expansive electronic soundscape, gently guided by Sovereign’s delicate voice. As the beat gradually intensifies, “Starspin” transitions into an irresistibly danceable and infectious groove. Infused with subtle nods to 80s elements, the piece also showcases modern, unique flows that elevate its originality. This single, the last before Sovereign’s full album release, cements her ability to craft hypnotic and surreal soundscapes, inviting listeners on an interstellar journey.

Juan Arnau Pàmies – Esperança

Joan Arnau Pàmies, a Catalan composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist, has spent 15 years pushing the boundaries of music with his genre-defying approach that merges live electronics, acoustic instrumentation, free improvisation, and influences ranging from classical and jazz to glitch and avant-garde pop. His upcoming album, “Guidelines/Fonaments“, set for release on April 4th via Protomaterial Records, is a deeply personal exploration of his artistic evolution, balancing structure with spontaneity to create intellectually and emotionally engaging music. The lead single, “Esperança”, featuring Martina Perpinyà, encapsulates the album’s spirit with heart-pounding electronics and poignant vocals that reflect its Catalan title, meaning “hope”. Delivering a message of humanity’s resilience, “Esperança” provides a stirring glimpse into the meditative and innovative soundscapes that define “Guidelines/Fonaments“.

MKSTN – When It’s Over

Under the haunting glow of a late-night synth jam, “When It’s Over” unfolds with an uneasy Juno melody, evoking anticipation and uncertainty. The track, the first single from MKSTN’s upcoming album “CONTENT“, features drummers Chino De Villa (Jessie Reyez) and Braden Sauder (Luna Li), who add rhythmic depth to its blend of live and programmed elements. Known for combining chillwave, dream pop, and lofi house influences, Toronto-based MKSTN weaves emotional and sensory layers into his music, reflecting themes of duality, love, and time. His journey, from street dancer to electronic producer, underscores his creative evolution, culminating in “CONTENT“, due May 15, 2025.

OOTORO – “Out Control”

OOTORO strikes again with his latest single, “Out Control,” a dynamic track that seamlessly blends pulsing basslines with intricate melodic layers, embodying his signature fusion of disco-tech and bass-heavy house. Released via NIGHTMODE, the song radiates energy, sophistication, and experimental flair, making it a dancefloor essential while showcasing OOTORO’s mastery in crafting immersive and genre-defying electronic music.

Owari – What You’re Made Of

UK-based producer and artist Oliver Still, known as Owari, continues to push boundaries in the indie-electronic and dance music genres, blending underground club influences with instrumental intricacy. His latest track, “What You’re Made Of” is a heartfelt exploration of identity and personal growth, built from a collage of voice notes layered over a club-inspired beat influenced by artists like Tourist and Fred Again. The track’s core message that experiences and emotions shape who we are is captured in the refrain “so many feelings, can’t hide“. Since 2019, Owari’s music has gained support from platforms like NTS and BBC Radio 1, and he has performed alongside artists such as Tom VR and Adam Pits as part of the Chameleon collective. With this release, Owari leans further into his dance and club influences, reflecting his evolving artistry while maintaining the emotional depth that defines his sound.

Saint Bagny – Fractal

In his debut track “Fractal”, Saint Bagny (Jérémy Trombetta) ventures into the realm of electronic music, crafting a dark, introspective piece inspired by the repetitive patterns of human behaviour. Composed during the pandemic, the track marks a departure from his previous rock-oriented band, embracing a post-punk, industrial soundscape. Through layers of brooding melodies and a transformative climax, Saint Bagny explores the constraining loops of our instinctive responses, suggesting that even deeply ingrained patterns can shift when viewed through a new lens.
