“Come Back Now“, the first single from BREAKS’ newly released EP “Hard Times“, is a dark and electrifying post-punk anthem fueled by raw emotion and gritty energy. Written during an impromptu recording session at Screaming Leopard Studios in Hermosa Beach, the track channels the turmoil of a toxic relationship through its protagonist’s desperate plea for a chaotic lover to return. With driving basslines, searing guitars, and Damo Goyenechea’s fervent vocals, “Come Back Now” captures the push-pull of love and dysfunction with unrelenting intensity, setting the tone for the band’s hard-edged yet emotionally charged sound.
Hailing from Los Angeles, BREAKS has quickly gained recognition in the city’s indie rock scene with their raw, DIY ethos and saturated, gritty production style. Originally a solo project by frontman Damo Goyenechea, the band expanded to include Nikkoli Kade on bass, Cameron Stephens on guitar, and Garret Henritz on drums, evolving into a formidable live act. Drawing inspiration from punk and post-punk icons like The Clash, Joy Division, and The Ramones, their music strikes a balance between nostalgia and modern edge. With the release of “Hard Times” on past December 5, and plans for a 2025 tour, BREAKS is solidifying their place as one of LA’s most compelling rising acts.
