London-based artist IVANA makes a powerful debut with her single “Ain’t Free“, which originated from a bass line she crafted in her bedroom studio. The song explores the theme of realizing one’s worth in or out of a relationship, a message she hopes will resonate with and inspire other women. Co-produced with her good friend Pete, the track also features contributions from her exceptional band, blending elements of Neo-soul, RnB, and Jazz.
Born in Bilbao to a Spanish mother and English father, IVANA was raised in the vibrant musical landscape of London. Her musical journey began at the age of 10, and by 15, she was already honing her production skills. Her father, Ben Bartlett, a BAFTA award-winning classical composer, introduced her to the piano, sparking her lifelong passion for music. A self-taught guitarist and bassist, IVANA‘s diverse influences range from jazz legends like Erykah Badu and Lauryn Hill to contemporary artists such as Snoh Aalegra and Ari Lennox. With a growing following from her live performances across London, IVANA is poised for a bright future, and “Ain’t Free” is just the beginning of her impressive musical repertoire.
