Vibropath introduces himself as Frank: a solo artist/producer from Rochester, NY that makes music that falls into the DIY/Indie realm, influenced by bedroom pop/lo-fi, indie rock, dream pop, and adjacent genres.
His latest single entitled “Overboard” is a song about obsessive, over-idealized love. Lyrics are written from the POV of the obsessed individual, who is fully aware their feelings are romanticized, in love for the wrong reasons, but unable to rationalize it away. The song is influenced by modern post-punk/DIY pop and indie rock made up of a driving drum machine beat, synths, melodic guitar and distorted vocals.
There is a gorgeous repetitive pseudo-depressive vibe that easily turns into an extraordinary surfy vibe. So addictive and genuine.
Lyrics:
It’s so hard to see you
Like you’re something real
It’s not like I want to
No, I never did
Yeah, I’m a little overboard
There’s just some things I can’t ignore
No sum of reason gettin’ me through
It doesn’t matter
How much I know
An understanding
Won’t keep me down
♪
No, you’re not a person
‘Least not in my eyes
Can’t stop lookin’ at ya
Through rose-colored whites
Yeah, I’m a little overboard
There’s just some things I can’t ignore
No sum of reason getting me through
Yeah, I’m a little overboard
There’s just some things I can’t ignore
I’ll fool myself a million more times
It doesn’t matter
How much I know
An understanding
Won’t keep me down
