Yves Paquet – Bullet

Like a bullet, a bullet, a bullet through our heads, comes Yves Paquet catchy pop track about confronting love.

Good morning everyone, we thought you might like to listen to one of those tracks that can light up your morning. Bullet by Yves Paquet is a great pop track that mixes several other well-known elements of jazz and RnB to make a very catchy and feel-good track.

Yves is a Belgian artist and songwriter who gained some traction by collaborating with several other new indie artists like Alok, Barely Alive, Vintage Culture, or The Subs, reaching the number 1 spot at the Belgian Dance Charts. His debut album entitled “EVERY NOW AND THEN” is a collection of pop felt tracks that sound both easy to listen to, and the perfect balance between meaningful and catchy. For me personally, a track like “Bullet” reminds me of the tracks released in Sam Smith’s first album. Not unnecessarily commercial, but still giving the proper space for songs to grow into pretty everyone’s liking.

The intro to the track is quite welcoming and light, but still complex enough for the listener to feel its different layers. The vocals come in perfectly in tune giving an extra layer to the track. And as they rapidly get us into the chorus, we are hooked by the “I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head”. The lyrics (below) are quite diverse too and seem to talk about a relationship that gone wrong, and is all about confronting that person about it. While the lyrics might seem darker, the track sounds light and pop-easy – like great pop songs about delicate love subjects typically do – and we found ourselves easily singing about a situation we’re not in.

I call you lazy, I call you ghost
I call you lately to see what’s going on
I call you messy, I call you love
I see it clearer than I ever saw it before
I heard it all, I hear your voice
I hear that promise that you make but you never come
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
I thought you want me, want it, wounded me instead
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
Stop playing your games around here, before I’m dead, yeah
You called me drunken, you called me fake
Called me worst you ever met, in past and present state
You called me lonely, you called to f*
Called me the best you ever had but baby isn’t one enough?
I heard it all, I hear your voice
I heard that promise that you made but you never came
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
I thought you want me, want it, wounded me instead
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
Stop playing your sick games around here, before I’m dead, yeah
Before I’m dead, yeah, yeah
Bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
Stop playing your sick games around here, before I’m dead
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
I thought you want me, want it, wounded me instead
I caught a bullet, bullet, bullet in my head
Stop playing your sick games around here, before I’m dead, yeah
