Getting those Friday feels? We are. With some very needed holidays looking close we’ve got just the ideal soundtrack. This is From Mountains To The Sand premiere.
V.A.L. is “seasoned singer-songwriter” located in Melbourne who produces his lofi bedroom recordings bringing some old-needed vibes back to our ears, with a touch of modernity. From Mountains To The Sand is his third release and his first release of the year.
It is as we’ve written earlier, the perfect track for the start of some needed vacations, or the perfect appetiser for the ones around the corner. Reminding us of our idols Fletwood Mac, the slow but steady building of the track gives the listener the perfect trip. Positive and ever-growing and upwards, it easy provoques a steady smile on us. The similarities also expand to War On Drugs for example, especially when those more Americana or Folkish vibes kick in.
With the working title “Quarra” hints on nostalgia about pre quarantine times but its is easily relatable to the healing power of relationships and the ways we find to continue to nurture love at distance. It is “a song about mountains (colossal mentalities both good and bad) crashing to the sand, water and light – and in that way is somewhat an ode to Jimi Hendrix’ Castle Made of Sand.
V.A.L. first EP should be released this year, mastered by Joe Carra (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, POND), so a very big reason to be following him:
