Formed this year in Berlin, More Than Ruins are a trio composed by Charlie Grant (songwriter and guitarist), Jule Escherhaus (vocalist), and Ainsley Adams (producer and songwriter). The first two met at a songwriting session and magic was immediate. Black Lines – the first-ever single from the band – was written in that session by them and later produced by Adams.
Black Lines, just like the duo encounter, is easy and immediate. An indie-pop wonder with the soft but precise integration of classic elements (like the double bass in the back and sparse piano bits). The song finds its immediacy also in the gorgeous vocals that feel contemporaneous and melodic. Clever songwriting aligned with a very melodious vibe and a beautiful lyrical charge too.
Gorgeous first release.
More Than Ruins are currently writing more songs, with further releases due for 2020.
