With the end coming to an end we were still to post about one of our new favorite Portuguese vocals. Gabriel Petra is about to release is debut EP, and 2018 marked his first advance into the alternative indie music world. Based in Lisbon, this student of Jazz and musical production and co-writer of several other national projects showcases a deep and overwhelming voice that for us brings up resemblances with James Blake in almost an instant (but also Matt Corby). With some simple background infused with electric elements, his vocals sound both jazzy and deeply electrified.
Made of Stone is a song about battling our own demons and overcoming pain. A track that grows on the listener with every play mostly because it is filled with sensible details and some gorgeous and nurtured lyrics. But above all, it is filled with the type of vocals that work like an addictive drug we can’t get enough.
