Masquerades – Hard Working Man

Bluesy vibes, fearless attitude and an indie rock feeling we can't quite explain. Meet the Masquerades.

Masquerades Hard Working Man WtMM New Secret

They are hard working men! Starting in Berlin about 9 years ago, playing hardcore rock, their name is Masquerades. But was their love for the clean guitars, waltz rhythms and emotional punk that brought them to us. Volker Radics, Sam Rush and Peter van Gielle Ruppe are the members of Masquerades and they say their personal interests are parties, fruity things and world peace. We would say that shows in their music and even more on their videos.

Hard Working Man was released in the beggining of September, and while the video is pretty epic, it is the punk simplicity and the genuine happiness of this relaxed punk-rock song that truly makes us like it so much. They say “we are always doing Indy-Rock, but on our new album we experiment with various styles – and treat ourselves rather with irony. This song is kind of bluesy“. We see where they came from and what they are saying there. We also see they are having fun with this, and it’s indenieble how easily this song managed to conquer a special place in our hearts. Let alone, its epic video.

This is their third single from the upcoming album. Pepare to be surprised by the other two. Something Fruity is based on a deep bass and edgy vocals. It sounds both indie and current, but also brings back some 90’s vibes. The small guitar sounds great through the entire song, and the Caribbean vibe around it it’s also pretty unexpected. Oh and no shame on the delicate final either.

Finally, Party Of the Year was their first song after their 6 year hiatus. A song that sounds a bit like Blur and a bit like they do not care about stereotypes. It is in fact that fearless attitude felt through all these 3 songs that is probably making the difference for the positive. Masquerades are an uncomplexed band, which is clearly having fun doing new songs. Just check out the electronic vibes that start around the 1 minute mark. The way the mix it with a bluesy vibe. Classy, epic and truly revigorating in todays music.
