Thank God It’s Friday! (Well, Saturday. But who’s counting?) June came along and went by faster than a bullet: July is already here! To homage the second month of the Summer, we put together a playlist that has a bit of 80’s, a bit of indietronic and alt-rock. And that smells Summer to us. Hope it does to you too!

Ghostpoet – Freakshow

Guess what? A couple weeks later, Ghostpoet is back and unveiled another single out of the upcoming album Dark Days & Canapés: Freakshow. Once again, guitar driven and lyrically powerful, Freakshow is yet another proof of the mad genius meets music magician Ghostpoet really is.

Lily McQueen – Say Something

Say Something is Lily McQueen‘s newest single with a video, which was released yesterday (June 7th). This track is part of her debut album Electric Love which was released June 30th via Concierge Records. Lily’s music have a tendency to evoke warm nostalgia as it resembles a lot 70’s or even early 80’s music. Warm vocals and instrumentals, perky beats and now a video with the same thematic. We’re hooked on her, on the single, on the video, and on the E.P..

MOON – Hang On

MOON are a relatively new alt-rock act that really stepped up on their latest single release. Hang On was dropped on the 16th of June but for some reason we just got around it now. This is an alternative-rock piece with some great indietronic elements added to it. The coolest thing about this LA duo (at least for us) is the fact that the main vocals are by the drummer! Talk about big lungs. Please, do indulge on Hang On all weekend (and summer) long.

Will Joseph Cook – Treat Me Like a Lover

For those of you who are unfamiliar with Will Joseph Cook: firstly, no, this is not a question, it’s his name; and secondly, his debut album is out and it’s great – you should check it out.  On June 4th, Will Joseph Cook announced an Autumn Tour and the release of Treat Me Like a Lover, taken from the already out Sweet Dreamer. This is yet another 80’s influenced tune that will accompany us during the weekend.

Fenne Lily – What’s Good

What’s Good is Fenne Lily‘s latest single and it was dropped March 17th. Yesterday, it got a video. In fact, yesterday Fenne Lily released her first ever official music video. What’s Good is about the loneliness of realising you want somebody more than they want you; of playing by someone else’s rules. We wanted the video to articulate that feeling of isolation and powerlessness by playing ‘team’ sports alone.” The softness of her vocals matches the delicate subject of the song, which in turn is matched by the latency of the video. Fenne Lily just got herself under our to-watch list.

RITUAL – Better By Now

By now, RITUAL have established a pretty solid sound. We know their next song is going to be both of two things: electronic and awesome. And do you know what? Every single time, we get amazed. Because even though the formula is the same, they always get a way to make it special and unique. Better By Now is their latest release and it comes with a beautiful video. This single is electro-amazing while soul-comforting. Speaking of the lyrics, the band said: ” (…) we are just us saying that everyone recovers and deals with things in their own time and way. People often tell you how you are ‘supposed to feel’ etc but I don’t get that. ‘Who cares’ what you think really.

Hope you have a nice weekend,

With love,
WtMM Team
