Reload is an intimate confession about claustrophobia, false friendship, absent family and how to deal with it. Even though the thematic is quite rough, the track is a true reaction to it all, and has every thing we need to be truly mesmerised. With obvious resembles to The Weeknd, it showcases a RnB meets pop production with clinical bits of electronic. Joel voice is always spot on, as it merges an almost hip-hop with pure wonder-pop falsettos and unpredictable harmonies.
In the words of Joël: “Everything I go through is what I’m writing about. It’s real life experiences: family issues, girl issues, anything. It’s really from me. I can’t write unless it’s from me.”
