[TGIF] Bridge Back to You

Six alternative songs for an alternative Sunday.

Thank God it’s Friday! This week hundreds of enthusiastic new releases made very difficult to choose only 6 songs. As a result these next songs make up what is probably the most eclectic TGIF to date. From new returnees and highly anticipated alt-j to our favourites Alex Vargas and TENDER and beautiful melodies from Haerts, Adna and The Beach. Enjoy this weekend selection:

alt-j – 3WW

Alt-j newest single, 3WW, released in the beginning of the week, is probably the least song to need any introduction. Still, and because its very calming and relaxing flow is in someway revolutionary to both their type of songs and any modern song, it is also the most mandatory song to hear this week. 3WW puts alt-j into a distinct pedestal. They are now a indie cult band. And they know it. This is as beautiful and chilling as it gets.

Haerts – Your Love

Your Love is the first single taken from Haerts‘ upcoming second album. This single is filled with pure, raw honesty. Your Love is naked feelings, naked bodies and naked soul. Keeping up with their characteristic 90’s inspired sonority, Haerts just opened up our appetite for more. I don’t want your love, if you can breathe without it.

The Beach – Bridge Back to Your Heart

Continuing in a very different direction from 2015 vibes (from singles such as From Above and Thieves) and feeding the light he found in 2016 with the EP Colours, The Beach is back with a new single called Bridge Back to Your Heart. This is a piano driven love song in the likes of Tom Odell with a beginning that makes us reminisce back to Rihanna feat. Mikky Ekko‘s Stay.

Adna – Closure

Even though we already talked about Adna previous single this week, we were left blown away by this week release of Closure. The song keeps Adna profound (and dark) intensity but pushes the boundaries of her sound into an almost rock song. The result is a wonderfully melodic and powerfully meaningful track, which couldn’t be any better.

Alex Vargas – Follow You

Follow You is Alex Vargas‘ third single out of his upcoming 17-track album which is now available for pre-order. Maintaining his soulful alt-rock, Follow You is yet another great song from this current-Londoner. Alex Vargas kicks off his tour to promote his debut album at Kulturbolaget in Malmö, Sweden on March 31. Learn more about tour dates, click here.

TENDER – Erode

We are starting to run out of superlatives to classify new TENDER songs. Two days ago, Erode was released, and the first 2017 track for the London Basement band is a complete taker. While Erode definitely has the TENDER trademark all over it, the way it surprises us both in sound and lyrical density is unparalleled. What a song.

With love,
