North Downs – Plastic Clouds

North Downs are back with another instant crush.

North Downs plastic clouds

After a surprise and mysterious debut 5 months ago with Nothin’, North Downs are back with Plastic Clouds.

This time, some more information is revealed about the project: “Born in a run down barn in wintery English countryside, the lovechild of a Delta-Blues man and a London raver marrying the sounds of the organic and the synthetic”. Formed by three members of well-established electronic groups (still to reveal which ones), North Downs are set to “get as far out of the city as possible” and to write, produce and mix each song in just one day.

As much as our suspicions are pointing to bands like Jungle, Glass Animals, Django Django and Jagwar Ma, we can’t help but to be surprised once again. Plastic Clouds is urgently perfect, made of an immediate complexity, and mixes pop, rock, electronic and soul elements in a simple but so rewarding manner. And above all, we also cannot dare to fight against dancing along its weirdly-revolutionary catchiness (just hear the strong guitars, the almost-falsettos and the blowy lyrics).
