[PREMIERE] Trevor Ransom – Isabel Street

Trevor Ransom magical transformation of Robert Delong's Isabel Street lifts up everything.

Trevor Ramson Isabel Street premiere

His name is Trevor Ransom, is from Seattle, and he makes piano based, ambient, electronic music. At least that was how he described himself to us. In our opinion, he makes pianos sing and electric keys sound classic. We’ve secretly known him since we bumped into Glimpses (EP) and its magical aura. The way the piano dominated the entire EP filled our heads with tranquility. And was one of those cases where music makes clearer for the brain to work around its ideas.

Apparently, Robert Delong’s team also had some ideas about Trevor, when a couple of years ago contacted him to remix Isabel Street. What comes next is the result of that request. But is in no ordinary way, just a remix. Keeping is piano flow and his clear-cut soulfulness, Trevor way of working around Isabel Street transforms it into a whole different song. One which sticks around in our subconscious for way longer that it would be suppose to. And we cannot even try to fight the way the song aura transports us to some secret place where everything seems lighter, romantic, and everlasting. Even if the song is about being distant and missing that special someone.

In Trevor’s words:

“I was deeply honored to be asked to do it but initially struggled to find anything that I thought could fit with the song. It was just so different from the music I normally make. I was living in England at the time and where I was staying the only quiet place to make music on the weekends was in a space that didn’t have any heat, and it was winter time. One weekend, after a couple hours in the quiet space, sitting at the piano, hands going numb, with just the original vocals playing – I came up with the piano part that starts about 16 seconds into the song. Nothing was really sticking before that but that little phrase felt honest to me. And that was the platform that the rest of the song was built around.”
