Well, it’s Monday again isn’t it? To have a proper beginning of the last week before Christmas we’ve put down the jingles and focused on a serious newcomer that provides us with everything we need for a proper work day.
C. Macleod (Colin Macleod) comes from Scotland and describes his (their) sound as FM Rock. It couldn’t be more deceiving. Taking a very smooth and modern approach to Rock, the two songs we’ve heard to date come close to what we very much liked from bands like The War On Drugs, The Walkmen, Kurt Ville, or Boy & Bear.
Getting our hands on Dream, we couldn’t be more instantly satisfied. From the very first beat, drift, note, this is as pleasing and as clean as a very nice view over the clouds. Coincidence or not, the official music video has a lot of cloud-like scenery with the adequate speed to it. Somehow the song make us feel like we are traveling at a very slowly speed of light. An absolute banger. Could listen to this the entire day:
If we’d think that Dream is one in a million, we felt surprisingly fulfilled as through Red Bull Stripped Sessions they presented Old Fire. We would recommend everyone to listen it by hitting this link. The almost effortless way the vocals come out to also perfectly align with the very big crescendo of piano, drums and guitars, is truly impressive for such a young band.
As he (they) record the debut album Bloodlines with Ethan Jones (Boy & Bear, Laura Marling, The Vaccines, The Staves, Ryan Adams, Kings of Leon,…), we know we will be in for winner. And will be here to get our hands on it.
