In most recent cases, good indie music is all about beginning strong, with a distinctive shift from the normal, before introducing some well placed vocals. Fyfe has something unique, with his vocals laying between Alt-J and Death Cab for Cutie, he is not only really hard to describe but also really easy to fall in love with. When his latest single, Stronger, was released, for us, it was an instant snap, a mix between rock and electronic dizzy vibes with a very strong focus on the words. Like a well-sung dance, it delivers a powerful message both in rhythm and content. Like a danceable conversation, a well-balanced exposure of arguments. And although maybe we should have been prepared for this, considering the superb quality of his debut album Control and the first singles like Holding On and For You, we still couldn’t be more surprised. This is one of the best examples of how strong and startling indie-rock artists can be. And definitely, a bomb.
