Last year, Marian Hill took us by surprise with what was one of the best songs – Got It – and probably the best E.P. of the year – Sway. It was just a perfectly intense, sexy and lip-biting masterpiece. An extended play with seven songs, and absolutely no weak points. Last Friday, they released a new song entitled Down. Were we surprised? Yes. It would be expected that after seven quality songs they would somehow let us down. It happens so many times. They don’t. Down is yet again another masterpiece from the duo. The slow but steady beginning, the electronic piano getting into its space and Samantha’s sassy voice almost asking permission to take us away. And then the typical onomatopoeia on the chorus “Down-di-di-down-di-di-down-down” simultaneously voice and synthesizer. It’s just perfection. Once again. The best song you will hear all week.
