Badass attitude, MIA meets Rihanna vocals, sultry RnB vibe and hypnotizing, dirty bassline. The minimalist ambiance and Donna Missal‘s souflul voice make the music dark without being heavy and seductive without being repetitive. There’s something to the way she uses her voice to create different settings to the same song, reminding us of the transformed Selena Gomez on Revival or even (one of our favorites) Bishop Briggs. Released about two months ago, Sick is as captivating as perplexing and we can’t get it off our heads (she hypnotized us with her sick magic). It truly amazes us how a second original release can be this consistent, so well constructed and on fleek. We had already caught her tendency to the RnB sultry with a pinch of sexiness genre with Keep Lying, her debut single that turns all spotlights to her astonishing vocal range and power, and now with Sick we can definitely see the direction she’s going for – and it’s a good one!
