It was just a regular Tuesday morning until an 80’s kind of feel hit us right in the ears. That’s right, we’re talking about Avenue’s new EP, Keep Counting. This indietronic meets the 80’s keeps giving us a nostalgic sensation… Where have we listened to these sounds before? There’s no doubt, we can hear glimpses of Depeche Mode and Tears for Fears among the cracked echoey voices and slowed down happy beats, but there’s something more, something new, something like Kavinsky. Sam Willow’s sound, heavily influenced by vintage beats, still sounds current and refreshingly unique and up-to-date! Keep counting is simply contagious, you’ll find yourself stuck in traffic and out of the bloom you’ll start pumping your fist as soon as you start hearing the heavy (yet incredibly subtle) bass and happy electronic piano. Last One Out will make you sing from the top of your lungs and the rest? Why don’t you find out for yourself? We don’t want to ruin the surprise! Enjoy.
Serve Somebody is a gentle indie-rock triumph that slides down our ears and invades our minds easily and without tricks.
